Crytek’s been making a splash with the CryENGINE 3, which alongside DICE’s Frostbite 2, gives EA a pair of next-gen-ready gaming engines to build their core shooter franchises from. The new show coming to CBS will be the fifth different series with the CSI title, and the first to air in five years. CSI: Vegas is set in the same world as the original CSI: Crime Scene Investigation and will feature some familiar characters. CSI: Vegas starts on CBS at 10 p.m. ET/9 p.m. CT on Wednesday October 6. Having previously worked on Guitar Hero and Rock Band, Harmonix seems to understand what tracks are appropriate and fun to play in their games. Dance Central, announced at Microsoft’s E3 Press Conference this year, appears set to extend Harmonix’s record of decent track selection. Today Harmonix and MTV Games revealed the complete on-disc track list for Dance Central, and it appears to be what people would expect from a dance game....

Last week, THQ hosted a preview event in San Francisco at the Regency Center - where game journalists and other industry people were brought together to see a first look at gameplay for Darksiders II. At first glance, the venue could have been mistaken for an overly stylish area to hold a video game event - but the gothic feel of the Regency ballroom certainly does add much to the atmosphere of the game....

Daunte, a 20-year-old Black man, was fatally shot during a traffic stop in Brooklyn Center, just 11 miles from where George Floyd, a 46-year-old Black man, died while under arrest by Minneapolis police last May. Daunte’s death prompted a wave of protests and a night of unrest, causing Governor Tim Walz to activate the National Guard. The DC Comics movie, which features the pets of Superman, Batman and Wonder Woman, is out in cinemas now. Director Jared Stern (The Lego Batman Movie) sat down with Newsweek and explained the origin story behind the movie. He also detailed his reasoning behind each of the post-credits scenes, which extend the plot and hint at future movies....

Dead by Daylight is an asymmetric multiplayer game which pits someone playing as an unstoppable horror genre killer against four “survivors,” who must dodge gruesome death. Players can build experience as either a Survivor or Killer, unlocking upgrades and progressing each character. Since its initial release in 2016, Dead by Daylight has slowly added new killers, some original, but many from well-known horror franchises like Texas Chainsaw Massacre, A Nightmare on Elm Street and the Halloween series....

Bruce Anderson, 59, had reportedly been involved in a long standing argument with his 78-year-old neighbor Hampton Smith. The two men lived on the first and second floors of a five-storey brownstone apartment building in the northern Manhattan neighborhood. On Friday afternoon, shortly after 2 p.m., Anderson is believed to have shot Smith in the head after encountering him in a downstairs hallway of the building. After that, he apparently went to the second floor of the building, where he also shot and killed Smith’s 62-year-old partner, Yvette Rivera....

A survey of 1,126 U.S. adults conducted in August 2021 by the American Automobile Association showed that just over half (55 percent) of American adults were planning a vacation of at least one overnight stay before the end of 2022. Taryn Fenske, spokeswoman for DeSantis, disclosed the forms to media outlets Tuesday, reiterating that he was trying to help the migrants by flying them to a more welcoming destination. The Republican governor’s response came after the migrants and advocacy groups sued DeSantis for what it called a scheme targeting vulnerable people. However, legal commentators say the consent forms are possibly invalid or undercut his justification. “DeSantis may have gotten the immigrants to sign consent forms – but if there was fraud (and it sounds like there was), then any purported contract was and is void,” Tristan Snell, lawyer and former New York state prosecutor, said in a tweet....
