Seeing anime films in theaters has become much more possible these days, but the opportunities are still few and far between. The last few years have seen plenty of high-profile anime films make it to American theaters for limited releases, but fans will now be able to catch some of those films and others on Crunchyroll starting this month.

Crunchyroll announced earlier this week that on Thursdays in September, and on one Wednesday, fans will be able to catch Jujutsu Kaisen 0, Afro Samurai: Resurrection, Odd Taxi: In the Woods, The Girl Who Leapt Through Time, the Pyscho-pass: Sinners of the System movie trilogy and other films. There’s only one catch. Each film will only stream on one Thursday, except for Jujutsu Kaisen 0 which will only stream on Wednesday the 21st. Crunchyroll plans to do the same for October with a different set of films yet to be announced.
While most of these films originally debuted between 2017 and 2019, Jujutsu Kaisen 0, Odd Taxi: In the Woods, and Bang Dream! Poppin’ Dream! all experienced relatively short runs in American movie theaters earlier this year. For many fans, this will be their first opportunity to see the films after missing the theatrical releases. Visit Crunchyroll’s website for a detailed list of the streaming dates for each of the films, starting with Afro Samurai: Resurrection and Bang Dream! Poppin’ Dream!
Jujutsu Kaisen 0 is the film that fans really need to block out time for on their calendar. Once Crunchyroll streams it, who knows how long it’ll be before fans have another opportunity to see this box office smash hit? Currently sitting at 98% on Rotten Tomatoes, this film has surpassed classics like Akira and more recent hits like A Silent Voice.
Although, maybe Jujutsu Kaisen 0 isn’t the film that all fans will be streaming on Crunchyroll this September. The other films being streamed all have dedicated fan bases as well. That’s not even mentioning the anime films available on Netflix and other streaming services. There are several hit films on those for fans to also enjoy.
