Counter-Strike creator and former Valve employee Minh ‘Gooseman’ Le spilled the beans on some insider Valve information during an interview with GoRgnTV on Twitch. During the chat, Le explained that he doesn’t really feel it’s a secret that Valve is working on Half-Life 3, so it shouldn’t be a big deal for him to admit that he’s seen what he claims was likely concept art for the game.

Le starts off a bit vague when asked about Half-Life 3, but seems to convince himself he can say more and more as he talks…

He definitely seems to be speaking in riddles a bit to avoid revealing anything he isn’t supposed to, but it sounds like Valve is working on something new for the Half-Life universe. Le goes on to bring Left 4 Dead 3 into the conversation, which fits right in with previous rumors triggered by an internal company memo that Valve is currently working on both games.

“But yeah, I mean like I guess I could say that I did see something that looked kinda like in the Half-Life universe. And I mean it wouldn’t surprise anyone if I said they’re doing it, they’re working on it, yeah. So to go on a limb I’d say I did see some concept art for Half-Life 3.”

The Counter-Strike creator said he’s ‘really excited’ for the new Left 4 Dead game and went on to describe his experience with it…

If Le’s claims can be believed, then it sounds like what he saw of Left 4 Dead 3 was much more substantial than just concept art. He didn’t clarify whether or not he played a build of the game, saw a demo, or what; so we would be very interested to hear him elaborate exactly what it was that he saw. If he saw some running version of  the game, then it’s possible that the game is further along its development than the possible Half-Life project he mentioned.

Le may consider both bits of information old news, but we don’t expect Valve to confirm them any time soon. Some source code from the studio uncovered last summer gave reason to believe that Left 4 Dead 3 was already in the works, so the existence of either project isn’t very far-fetched at all. That said, unless a surprise announcement shows up at or around E3, we expect Valve will maintain its wall of silence until the games are just about ready to ship.

Do you think Le’s statements are a confirmation of development on Half-Life 3 and Left 4 Dead 3 or just more rumor-fuel? Let us know in the comments.
